Athletes on the Rise: Michael O’Shaughnessy
Hometown pride is running strong at NOVUS as we welcome Michael O’Shaughnessy as one of our newest brand ambassadors.
For us, Michael’s story is more than just impressive stats — it’s a full-circle moment. A Bethlehem, NY native, he grew up wearing NOVUS in our earliest days, long before our brand became what it is today. Now, years later, he’s stepping onto one of the biggest stages in college baseball as he transfers to the University of Georgia for his senior year.
From Local Roots to National Recognition
Michael’s love for the game started on the same local ballfields our co-founders once played on in upstate NY. At Christian Brothers Academy, he was a standout from the start — hitting an incredible .583 as a senior, with three home runs, 28 RBIs, and 22 runs scored. That performance helped lead CBA to the 2021 High School Suburban Council Championship and set the tone for what was to come.
His transition to college baseball was seamless. At Davidson, Michael wasted no time making an impact. As a freshman in 2023, he was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team, hitting .306 with a .959 OPS, 10 home runs, and 44 RBIs over 52 games. He showed power, consistency, and patience at the plate — drawing 34 walks and reaching base in 16 straight games that season.
A Breakout Sophomore Season
In 2024, Michael was on pace for an even stronger season before an injury cut it short. Prior to his injury, he was putting up impressive numbers: .315 batting average, 1.020 OPS, 8 home runs, and 41 RBIs in just 37 games. He posted multiple hitting streaks, reached base in 19 consecutive games, and hit his first grand slam — driving in six runs in a win against Saint Joseph’s. That performance earned him Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honors.
The Next Chapter: Georgia Baseball
Now, Michael is taking his talents to Athens, joining the Georgia Bulldogs for his senior season. The move puts him in the heart of SEC baseball, where he’ll face some of the toughest competition in the country. Widely regarded as one of the top draft-eligible players in the nation, his combination of power, plate discipline, and defensive versatility at third base makes him an instant impact player for Georgia’s lineup.
Georgia head coach Wes Johnson has made it clear he’s building a roster capable of competing for an SEC title and postseason success — and Michael is a big part of that vision.
A Shared Mindset
At NOVUS, we’re inspired by athletes like Michael because they embody the values that built our brand: passion, conviction, and perseverance. Watching a local kid who once wore our earliest designs now compete on one of the sport’s biggest stages is a reminder of why we do what we do.
We can’t wait to follow Michael’s season in Athens — and to see where his journey takes him next.
