A subtle throwback to our college days, introducing the NOVUS Heritage Collection. The Inspiration Behind the Heritage Collection
The Heritage Collection not only showcases our brand’s journey but also commemorates the pivotal moments of our college years—where NOVUS began. Every product is crafted with unwavering passion and purpose. The attention to detail in each piece, from the embroidery to the intentional color palettes, brings out the essence of our brand.
The Old English Style UMaine ‘M’ that was inspired by Owners Nick & Garrett Bernardo, and their dad, Rick who rocked the M while playing baseball at UMaine. The ‘N’ for NOVUS now helps tell the story of the brand born on our college campus.
The colorways in the Heritage Collection were meticulously selected, drawing direct inspiration from the hues that adorned some of our favorite college campuses. While the Bernardo brothers were playing ball and selling crewnecks at UMaine, their partner Scott Klimchak was playing lacrosse and slinging tanks on the Rutgers campus. These colors represent more than just a palette; they’re a nod to the landscapes and playing fields that shaped our college years.
The ‘CYC’ is a reminder to always Claim Your Crown. A mentality that lives beyond any playing surface. A mantra that is significant among anyone who is striving for greatness, especially college students who are navigating their own paths.
The design of the CYC was inspired by the iconic NYC subway token. Nick and Garrett Bernardo frequently met their partner, Scott Klimchak, in NYC for planning sessions, material research and celebratory dinners as they continued to build momentum with the brand. New York holds a special place in the hearts of the NOVUS founders, with the Bernardo brothers being born and raised in the state and Scott, a native of New Jersey. They’ve collectively spent a significant time in NY, marking the place where NOVUS planted its roots, transitioning from a college campus venture to its current headquarters in Upstate NY.

The 'N' embroidery was inspired by the Old English 'M' from playing ball at UMaine and pays homage to our college years, where NOVUS was born. The Heritage Script Snapback was inspired by our beloved campus colorways and our hometown, New York. Designed with cotton-twill material, embroidered text, rope accent and 5-panels. The front of the hat features our classic NOVUS script and New York. The side of the hat features our latest rendition of our Claim Your Crown logo.
